Day Shelter!
Tom Shadyac returned for the local premiere of his newest movie, “Evan Almighty.”
The Charlottesville premiere, held at the Paramount Theater, also honored Shadyac’s work with the First Street Church Project “I didn’t want to pillage the community,” Shadyac said, referring to how movies bring a cast and equipment into an area, and “then split.”
COMPASS, the organization that will run the day shelter at the First Christian Church on West Market Street, wanted to form a shelter but did not have a building. Through the Virginia Organizing Project, Shadyac discovered COMPASS’s need.
